Find Relief from Migraines, Neck Pain, & More

Botox® injections have been used for decades as a cosmetic treatment, but it's also a powerful tool for managing chronic pain. Our team of interventional pain specialists and dual-board certified physicians at Commonwealth Pain & Spine offers Botox injections as a minimally invasive option for patients seeking relief from various types of chronic pain.

Are Botox Injections Right for Your Chronic Pain?

Botox, derived from botulinum toxin type A, temporarily blocks nerve signals to the brain when injected, especially when used directly into the muscle responsible for pain. It's often recommended by physicians when oral medication, physical therapy, and other treatments fall short.

Studies and patient experiences show Botox injections effectively manage pain for various conditions, including:

  • Chronic tension headaches
  • Chronic migraines
  • Neck pain
  • Facial pain
  • Cervical dystonia (involuntary neck muscle contractions)
  • Neck stiffness and spasms
  • Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)

  2. Consultation: In the consultation, our specialists will review your medical history and pain management strategies to determine if Botox injections suit you.
  3. Injections: The procedure usually lasts 10 - 15 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Our physicians will set the proper dosage and precisely administer the injections.
  4. Recovery: You may have mild discomfort or swelling at the injection site, which should lessen in a day or two. Many patients report relief as early as 3-4 weeks from injection. The effect of the medication could last weeks or months, usually approximately 12 weeks.
